Christopher McKelvey is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he has served since 2011. His research focuses on development economics, with emphasis on applied microeconomics, labor & demographic economics, and consumer behavior.
- Education: Ph.D. in Economics (2005) from the University of California, Los Angeles; B.A. in Economics (1996) from Brandeis University.
McKelvey's research explores how health affects employment and earnings, intra-household bargaining dynamics, and the socioeconomic impact of cellular phone technology in developing countries. His recent work investigates the interplay between prices, quality, and household decision-making. Publications in journals like Economic Development and Cultural Change and Journal of Development Studies highlight his contributions to understanding economic crises, fertility regulation, and rural development.
