Dr. Christopher Martinez is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies & Homeland Security at St. John’s University. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the City University of New York. He holds a PhD in Homeland Security Leadership and Policy from Northcentral University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Saint Leo University. His career includes 27 years in federal law enforcement, retiring from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as Assistant Special Agent in Charge. He also served as a U.S. Army Reserves Intelligence Warrant Officer and as a DHS Attache in Panama.
His teaching focuses on Organized Crime, Financial Investigations, Intelligence Sharing, and International Security. Research interests include undercover operations, transnational crime, cybercrime, leadership, and diversity retention strategies. He has held roles in investigative offices across California, Florida, Virginia, and New Jersey, with leadership in strategic communications and embassy collaboration.
