Christopher Magno is Associate Professor at Gannon University, teaching in Criminal Justice, Marketing, and Sociology programs since 2010. He develops experiential learning initiatives including crime mapping projects, book drives for prisoners/refugees, and community-based GIS applications for urban planning.
Research focuses on spatial analysis of crime patterns, social justice implications of urban policies, and community-engaged scholarship. His interdisciplinary work bridges criminal justice, geography, and sociology to address systemic inequalities.
Substantial grant funding includes $110,000 from Alden Trust for GIS education infrastructure, $20,500 from Philippine Normal University for spatial analysis of extrajudicial killings, and multiple Erie Community Foundation awards. Honors include endowed professorships, teaching innovation awards, and service recognitions like consecutive 'Big Awards' for community impact.
Community partnerships include pro bono GIS analysis for Erie Police Department, Erie Downtown Development Corporation, and board memberships with Erie Day School, Interchurch Ministry, and Crime Victim Center.
