Dr. Christopher Love is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Alabama since 2013. He specializes in 20th/21st-century American and British literature, Gothic studies, and African American literature. His work bridges literary criticism with creative writing, including a study abroad program focusing on American writers in France. Love holds a PhD in English from the University of Southern Mississippi, an MA from the University of Tennessee, and a BA from the University of Memphis with a French Literature minor.
Research interests include Gothic literature’s intersection with historical contexts, African American narratives, and the spatial dimensions of racial discourse. He teaches courses such as 'American Gothic Literature' and 'The Lost Generation' in literature and composition. His creative works explore Southern Gothic themes and multicultural narratives.
Recent publications span scholarly articles on John Updike, Robert Frost, and Gothic Melville, alongside creative fiction and critical reviews of works like Gerald Horne’s Black Revolutionary. Love’s Crimson Code (2024) co-authored with Desmond Jackson examines contemporary cultural narratives. His academic contributions emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to literature and its societal roles.
