Dr. David Malone is the Chair and Professor of English at Union University, a Christ-centered institution in Jackson, Tennessee. He holds a Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University, an M.A. in Creative Writing from SUNY Binghamton, and a B.A. from Wheaton College. His research focuses on American literature, particularly intersections of race, religion, and narrative form. Key works include essays on John Updike and Flannery O'Connor, as well as creative nonfiction and short stories. Recent scholarship addresses racial ideology in Morrison and O'Connor's writings. He has presented at conferences like 'Flannery O'Connor in the Age of Terrorism' and published in journals like Catapult and John Updike and Religion.
