Christopher G. White

Christopher G. White is a Lecturer in Music and serves as Director of the University of Maine Symphonic Band, Pride of Maine Black Bear Marching Band, and Screamin’ Black Bear Pep Band. He also directs the Maine Summer Youth Music (MSYM) Camp Wind Conducting program and teaches percussion methods, marching techniques, and conducting. His roles include overseeing bands that perform nationally and internationally, and he actively engages in clinical work and adjudication across Maine.

Education: B.M. in Music Education from Ithaca College (1988), M.M. in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Maine (1994). Additional studies include attending the University of North Texas Conductors Collegium under Eugene Corporon and Dennis Fisher. Prior to his current roles, he was a Band Director and District Music Supervisor in Gardiner, Maine (1988–1992).

Professional Affiliations: Member of CBDNA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda, and honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. He serves as faculty adviser to Tau Beta Sigma.

Performance Experience: Played percussion with the Maine State Ballet Orchestra, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and performed at P.A.S.I.C. with the University of Maine Percussion Ensemble.
