Christopher Elias is a Visiting Assistant Professor of American Studies at Carleton College, where he has been teaching since 2023. He earned his PhD from Brown University and focuses on American cultural and political history, with particular emphasis on issues of sexuality, gender, memory, immigration, and film.
- Research Interests: 20th-century America, culture and identity, spirituality in cinema, contemporary fiction, US War on Terror, Lebanese history.
- Teaching: Courses like 9/11 and the War on Terror in American Culture, AIDS in America, and American Identities in the Twentieth Century.
His first book, Gossip Men (2021), explores the intersection of politics, media, and gender through figures like J. Edgar Hoover and Joe McCarthy.
