Adriana Novoa is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of South Florida. She holds a PhD in Latin American History from the University of California, San Diego (1998) and is a cultural historian specializing in science in Latin America, with a focus on Darwinism, gender, and race.

Her research explores the intersections of science, culture, and political ideology in late nineteenth-century Argentina and Latin America. Notably, she co-authored From Man to Ape (2010) and ¡Darwinistas! (2010), analyzing Darwinism’s role in national identity. Recent projects address masculinity, materialism vs. spiritualism, and twentieth-century philosophical debates.
Her articles (2004–2018) span topics like evolutionary theory, racial formations, feminist philosophy, and migrant-centric political theory. Collaborations include co-editing a special issue of the Inter-American Journal of Philosophy (2014) on Latin American thought. She teaches courses on cultural conflict, identity formation, and interdisciplinary approaches to Latin American history.
