Miguel La Serna is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He specializes in the intersection of culture, memory, and political violence in 20th-century Latin America, with a focus on Peru's political violence and Andean insurgencies. His research examines the socio-political dynamics preceding and during the Shining Path insurgency and the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement.
