Cesar Valverde is a visiting faculty member at the Universidad de Costa Rica, affiliated with the World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures department. He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from the University of California, Irvine, and earned his B.A. in English Literature and M.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of California, San Diego.

Valverde's recent publications include analyses of authoritarianism in Latin American literature, bourgeois anxieties in avant-garde works, and intersections of race, class, and masculinity. His scholarship engages with authors like Mario Vargas Llosa, Manuel Puig, and texts addressing political and cultural identity.
