Dr. Christopher E. Hendricks is a Professor of History at Georgia Southern University's Armstrong Campus, affiliated with the College of Arts and Humanities and the Department of History since 1993. His research focuses on Early America, Public History, and American Architectural History. He holds a B.A. from Wake Forest University (1986), an M.A. (1987), and a Ph.D. (1991) from The College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Teaching includes courses like Colonial America (HIST 4432), Revolutionary America (HIST 5133), and Architectural History (HIST 5255). His current research explores Colonial and Early National America, Eighteenth-Century Moravian Church, and American Town Planning. He has published extensively, including books on Piedmont North Carolina colonial towns and colonial Virginia backcountry settlements.
- Awards: 2020 Nicola Parker Coe Volunteer Award, 2019 Distinguished Faculty Service Award, 2014-15 Armstrong Alumni Wall of Honor, and 1998 Kristina C. Brockmeier Award.
- Professional Roles: Vice President of Springfield Legacy Foundation (2018-present) and member of the Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center.
He advises on public history projects and contributes to initiatives like the Savannah History Remix and the Ogeechee International History Film Festival.
