Dr. Christopher Curtis is a Professor of History and Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship at Georgia Southern University's College of Arts and Humanities. His roles include overseeing research initiatives and academic integrity policies across campuses. He holds a B.A. from the University of South Carolina (1986), M.A. from Virginia Tech (1997), and Ph.D. from Emory University (2002).
His research focuses on Law and Property Rights during the Age of Revolution, English Common Law, Liberalism, Capitalism, and Revolutions. Current projects include studies on Church Property Rights and the U.S. Supreme Court during the Nullification Crisis. He teaches upper-division courses such as HIST 3730 (Jacksonian America) and HIST 3750 (Civil War and Reconstruction).
Professional activities highlight his engagement with legal history, Southern U.S. studies, and early American political systems. His publications span monographs, peer-reviewed articles, and book reviews, reflecting expertise in colonial and antebellum history. Administrative offices are located at Veazey Hall, Statesboro, and Victor Hall, Armstrong Campus.
