Christopher Deviney serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Instrumental Studies department at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance, where he has taught the graduate percussion program since 2010. He concurrently holds the position of principal percussionist with The Philadelphia Orchestra since 2003, having previously performed with major ensembles including the Houston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Atlanta Symphony.
His educational background includes studies at Florida State University under Gary Werdesheim and Temple University with Alan Abel. Professional development highlights encompass the Aspen Music Festival and Tanglewood Institute.
Deviney's artistic focus centers on percussion performance, contemporary composition, and orchestral repertoire. He premiered his original work "Imaginary Day", Duo Concerto for Vibraphone and Marimba with The Philadelphia Orchestra in 2017, and has performed as principal percussionist in the PBS All-Star Orchestra broadcasts. His expertise spans both classical and modern percussion techniques across diverse orchestral settings.
