Christophe PRIEUR is a CNRS Senior Researcher at the University of Grenoble Alpes, working in the Gipsa-lab research laboratory in Grenoble, France. He serves as Vice-President of the European Control Association (EUCA) for 2024-2025 and will assume the Presidency in 2026-2027. An IEEE Fellow and IMA Fellow, he received the prestigious CNRS Silver Medal in 2024 for his contributions to control theory.
His academic journey includes:
- Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from University Paul-Sabatier, Toulouse (2009)
- PhD in Applied Mathematics from University Paris-Sud (2001)
- Agrégation of Mathematics (1998)
- Graduate from École Normale Supérieure de Cachan (2000)
Dr. PRIEUR's research centers on mathematical control theory with emphasis on partial differential equations, nonlinear systems, and hybrid dynamics. His work bridges theoretical advances with practical applications in fluid/thermal systems, fusion plasmas, aerospace navigation, and traffic flow control. Notable contributions include stabilization algorithms for distributed parameter systems using saturated boundary controls and event-triggered feedback mechanisms.
His scientific recognition includes the CNRS Silver Medal (2024), IEEE Fellow designation, and IMA Fellowship. These honors reflect his impact on control theory foundations and engineering applications.
He has directed major research initiatives including ANR projects (LimICoS, TORID), European programs (HYCON2), and international collaborations (STIC-AmSud France-Brazil-Chile). As Program Chair for NOLCOS 2013, ECC 2015, and CDC 2022, he shaped key conferences in control systems. Current leadership roles include Chair of the IEEE CSS Conference Editorial Board (2026-).
At Gipsa-lab, he leads the Infinity research group focusing on stability analysis and control design for infinite-dimensional systems, with ongoing work in plasma fusion control and AI-integrated control algorithms.
