Patrick Flandrin

Patrick Flandrin is a CNRS senior scientist and Researcher in the Physics Department at ENS de Lyon since 1991. He holds a PhD from INP Grenoble (1982). His research focuses on nonstationary signal processing, time-frequency/wavelet methods, stochastic processes, and complex systems. He is a Fellow of the IEEE (2002) and EURASIP (2009), and was elected to the French Academy of Sciences in 2010, serving as its Vice-President.

Key contributions include advancing Fourier analysis applications, wavelet theory, and interdisciplinary methods. His work bridges physics and information sciences, highlighted in a 2019 Comptes Rendus special issue he co-edited.

• Awards: Silver Medal (CNRS, 2010), IEEE Technical Achievement Award (2017), and numerous others.

Active in academic leadership, he contributed to the 250th Fourier anniversary celebrations and maintains roles in the French Academy of Sciences.
