Carlos Canudas de Wit is a Senior Researcher at CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) affiliated with the Department of Automatic Control at Grenoble INP, France. He leads the NeCS GIPSA-Lab (CNRS)-INRIA team on Networked Controlled Systems and has held leadership roles in the European Control Association (EUCA) and IEEE Control System Society. His work bridges theoretical control systems with industrial applications through collaborations with major French companies.
- Born in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico
- Ph.D. in Automatic Control, Polytechnic of Grenoble (1987)
- 200+ international conference papers, 65+ journal papers, 5 books, 10 book chapters, 11 patents
Research Focus: Controlling large-scale complex systems (e.g., traffic networks, brain neural networks) via scale-free metrics, aggregated models, and PDE-based continuum approximations to reduce complexity and enable boundary estimation/control.
Scientific Recognition:
- ERC Advanced Grant (2015-2021)
- IEEE Fellow and IFAC Fellow
- Former IEEE Board of Governors member (2011-2014)
- Editorial roles in IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Control System Technology, and Asian Journal of Control
