Dr. Christophe Ippolito is a Professor in the School of Modern Languages at Georgia Tech’s Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. He specializes in modern and contemporary France, African studies, and Flaubert scholarship. His research spans literary criticism, postcolonial studies, and sustainable development. He holds a PhD in French from Columbia University and has authored over five dozen peer-reviewed articles and ten books, including critical editions of Flaubert’s works.
He advises Georgia Tech’s African Studies Minor and co-leads study abroad programs in Senegal, France, and Rwanda. Notable roles include former Language Advisor/Program Director for French (2015–2018), recipient of the 2016 Georgia Power Professor of Excellence, and co-PI of a Fulbright-Hays grant for Senegal programming. His current projects include a monograph on literature and politics, and leadership in the "Serve Learn Sustain" program in France.
His research interests emphasize Francophone Africa, cultural politics, and interdisciplinary approaches to literature. Awards include the 2012 Georgia Tech Teaching Effectiveness Award. He teaches courses on French literature, African studies, and sustainable development, and collaborates on VIP courses integrating engineering and humanities perspectives.
