Christoph Neidhöfer is an Associate Professor and Area Coordinator (Music Theory) at McGill University's Schulich School of Music. He holds a PhD in music theory from Harvard University and diplomas in composition, music theory, and piano performance from the Musikhochschule Basel. His research focuses on 20th/21st-century music analysis, emphasizing compositional processes and their cultural/historical contexts. Supported by grants from SSHRC, the Paul Sacher Foundation, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, his work integrates archival studies. Neidhöfer has taught at the Darmstadt Summer Courses and the Mannes Institute, and his awards include the Schulich Teaching Award (2017). He co-authored Baroque Counterpoint (2023) and edited Music Theory Spectrum. Current projects include the “New Concepts of Harmony” research initiative in Venice.
