Christine Rogers is a Lecturer in Screen Media Production at the University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Business and Creative Industries. As a Pākehā/Ngāi Tahu filmmaker and textile artist, her creative practice explores adoption, belonging, and identity through documentary and essay films.
Education credentials include a PhD from RMIT University, an MCA from University of Melbourne, and a GradDip in TV/Film from Swinburne University.
Research employs autoethnographic methods to examine adoption experiences and decolonial approaches to Indigenous identity. Her films have screened internationally, including 'The Red God' (2024) and 'I am Evangeline' (2015).
Awards include the RMIT Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship and recognition at film festivals for directing and cinematography. As Book Reviews Editor for the Journal of Media Practice and Education, she supports emerging scholarship.
Current projects investigate stepmother narratives and decolonizing methodologies through film-textile intersections. Teaching emphasizes belonging-centered pedagogy in screen production education.
