Christine Krüger is a Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Bonn (since 2021) and holds an affiliation with Justus Liebig University Giessen's Department of Modern History. She holds a Dr. and PD (Privatdozent) title. Her research focuses on security dynamics, urban history, social conflict, and the intersection of nationalism and historical memory. Key projects include the German Research Foundation's CRC 138 'Dynamics of Security' and comparative studies of 19th-century Hamburg and London urban security policies.

Research Interests: Modern European history, urban security studies, voluntary work in 20th-century Germany/Britain, Jewish wartime experiences, nationalism, and transnational youth movements. Recent work examines squatting movements in the 1970s/80s and Cold War security hierarchies.
Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles and books, including monographs on youth service and edited volumes on war volunteering. Current projects include a manuscript on 19th-century urban security paradigms.
Awards & Grants: Feodor Lynen Fellowship (2008–2009), Walter Witzenmann Prize (2006), multiple visiting scholar positions at Sciences Po Paris, Colegio de México, and Oxford.
Grants & Collaborations: Led subproject C02 ('Security, Police, and Urban Space') in CRC 138 (2014–present). Conducted comparative research at UC Valparaíso (2016), Göttingen's Generational History program (2012–2014), and Tübingen's War Experiences CRC (2001–2004).
