Christine Cahill

Christine Cahill serves as Associate Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Political Science at Rutgers University's School of Arts and Sciences, overseeing more than 900 undergraduate majors and minors. She teaches introductory quantitative research methods to math-phobic students using evidence-based pedagogical approaches and mentors students through Honors Thesis Research and Internship Programs.

Dr. Cahill earned her PhD in Comparative Politics and Political Methodology from the University of California, Davis. Her professional development includes serving as New Brunswick Faculty Representative to the Rutgers University Senate and membership on the School of Arts and Sciences Curriculum Committee.

Her research focuses on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in political science, with current projects examining: application of get-out-the-vote frameworks to increase student use of academic resources; national survey of pedagogy training in political science PhD programs; and impact of AI integration in research methods courses on achievement gaps and student self-efficacy. Her expertise spans Comparative Politics, Political Methodology, and innovative teaching practices.

Dr. Cahill mentors undergraduate researchers through thesis programs and internship coordination. Her SoTL Fellowship-funded projects investigate teaching effectiveness across higher education contexts, including partnerships with the American Political Science Association to study graduate pedagogy training impacts on instructor preparedness.

She co-leads a跨-disciplinary Faculty Affinity Network on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning with colleagues from Chemistry and the Institute for Teaching, Innovation, & Inclusive Pedagogy, fostering cross-departmental collaboration on evidence-based teaching practices.
