Christine Bell is a Professor of Constitutional Law and Assistant Principal (Global Justice) at the University of Edinburgh's School of Law. She leads the £18.5 million Peace and Conflict Resolution Platform (PeaceRep), focusing on reinventing peace processes through PeaceTech solutions and data analysis in conflict zones. Her work integrates constitutional and international law with gender perspectives, emphasizing peace agreements and transitional justice.
- Education: BA (Law) from Selwyn College, Cambridge (1988); LLM from Harvard Law School (1990, Harkness Fellowship).
- Professional History: Practiced as a barrister and attorney in New York; directed the Transitional Justice Institute at the University of Ulster (2000–2011).
Her research explores peace processes, gender dimensions of conflict, and legal frameworks for transitional justice. Key projects include the PA-X Peace Agreement Database, a global archive of peace accords since 1990. She advises international bodies like the UN and has received fellowships from the European University Institute and the British Academy.
