Christina Reuterskiöld is a Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She holds certifications from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Swedish Board of Social Care. Her research focuses on developmental language disorder in children, including its influence on language processing in non-linguistic and linguistic contexts. She previously worked at New York University for nearly two decades before joining Linköping University in 2021.
Her educational background includes a doctoral degree from Lund University (1999), focusing on language ability in children with developmental disorders. Research interests span autism, hearing impairment, and 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, with a recent emphasis on orthographic support for word learning in clinical populations.
Key projects include studying precursors of intentional communication in young children and comparing language processing in children with developmental language disorder and bilingual learners. Her work bridges clinical practice and interdisciplinary collaboration, such as developing online education programs and cross-disciplinary courses with dieticians and medical students.
Christina Reuterskiöld is actively involved in teaching and mentoring, with ongoing collaborations in New York and Sri Lanka. She emphasizes the importance of contextualized language assessment and multilingualism in speech therapy. Her lab is part of the Division of Sensory Organs and Communication (SOK), which focuses on human communication research.
