Christina Samuelsson is a Visiting Professor at Linköping University's Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), within the Division of Sensory Organs and Communication (SOK). Her research focuses on communication support for individuals with disabilities, including children with language impairments, those with aphasia, and elderly individuals with dementia or cognitive impairments. She leads projects such as IN LIFE (EU Horizon 2020), developing technologies to enhance communication and socialization for the elderly. She also collaborates on cross-continental language assessment tools (Swedish, Sesotho, Setswana) for young children.
Research interests include dementia care, linguistic diversity in healthcare, and the role of technology in improving quality of life for vulnerable populations. She is affiliated with CIRCA (social interaction support), the Centre for Medical Humanities and Bioethics, and the Center for Dementia Research (CEDER). Funded by Forte and STINT, her work emphasizes participatory approaches to healthcare and aging.
Her grants include EU Innovation Actions (IN-LIFE) and STINT-funded cross-university collaborations. She contributes to multidisciplinary teams addressing communication barriers and ethical dimensions of healthcare through medical humanities.
