Dr. Christina Holmes is a Professor in the Department of Health Anthropology at Saint Francis Xavier University, Canada. Her research focuses on the anthropology of science and technology, medical anthropology, and biotechnology, with particular emphasis on public health governance, patient experiences, and agricultural food security. She employs ethnographic methods across Canada, Colombia, and Australia. Holmes co-edited notable works, including The Social Life of Standards (2021) and Beyond Imported Magic (2014, winner of the 2016 Amsterdamska Award). Recent projects examine the scientific needs of small farmers and the societal impacts of biotechnologies.
