Christina Barmon

Christina Barmon serves as Associate Professor and Sociology Program Coordinator at Central Connecticut State University, additionally coordinating the Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Minor and Gerontology Minor. She joined the institution in fall 2016 following completion of her doctoral studies at Georgia State University.

Her educational background is anchored in a doctorate from Georgia State University, establishing her interdisciplinary foundation.

Dr. Barmon's research critically examines intersections of aging, gender, and care systems through feminist gerontology and medical sociology frameworks. Her recent scholarship investigates social dynamics in long-term care environments, with specific focus on residents' sexual and intimate relationships, sexual harassment of care workers, and self-care practices among elderly populations. Teaching responsibilities include core sociology courses alongside specialized offerings such as Sociology of Care Work, Aging and Intimacy, and Introduction to Gerontology, reflecting her commitment to integrating aging studies with gender and sexuality frameworks.
