Christian Vossler is the J. Fred Holly Chair of Excellence in the Department of Economics at the University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business. He directs the UT Experimental Economics Laboratory and serves as a fellow of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy and the Center for Behavioral and Agri-Environmental Research (C-BEAR). As an applied microeconomist, his research focuses on environmental and public economics, non-market valuation, regulatory compliance mechanisms, and experimental economics. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Cornell University (2003), an M.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Oregon State University (1999), and a B.S. in Environmental and Resource Sciences from the University of Nevada (1997).
His research explores the validity of survey-based valuation methods, pollution control instruments, and tax compliance mechanisms. He has advised numerous graduate students and serves as editor for the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists and co-editor for Environmental & Resource Economics. His awards include the EAERE Best Paper Award (2015, 2013) and the G.F. Warren Award (2003).
