Christian Thomas Leitmeir is an Associate Professor in Music at the University of Oxford and a Tutorial Fellow in Music at Magdalen College. His expertise lies in medieval music theory, early modern music of Continental Europe, and interdisciplinary research bridging theology and art history.

As a devoted palaeographer and critical editor, Leitmeir focuses on manuscript studies and music reconstruction. His research spans German Romantic opera, Richard Strauss studies, and the history of musicology. Recent work explores confessionalisation paradigms in late Renaissance music and liturgical adaptation in Catholic Reform contexts.
Leitmeir serves as co-editor of Plainsong & Medieval Music, reviews editor for Archa Verbi, and sits on editorial boards of the Journal of the Alamire Foundation and Music Theory & Analysis. He was elected to the Academia Europaea in 2013. Teaching emphasizes medieval and early modern music history, including palaeography and critical editing.
