Christian Thomas Leitmeir is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Oxford and a Tutorial Fellow in Music at Magdalen College, Oxford. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer in Music at Bangor University (2007–2015) and held a Long-Term Frances A. Yates Research Fellowship at The Warburg Institute, University of London (2003–2006).

His research spans sacred music in liturgical contexts, musical notation, the interplay of music with words and images, and music historiography. He has contributed to medieval music studies, Renaissance polyphony, and Viennese Classicism, particularly focusing on Mozart and Richard Strauss.
Scientific awards include the Amplonius Fellowship (2010), the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen award for best thesis (2003–4), and the Hilda Margaret Watts Prize from King’s College London (1999). He has secured significant grants, including a £797,615 AHRC research grant and a £12,900 commission from the Polish Academy for a critical edition of Teodoro Riccio’s works.
