Prof. Dr. Christian Stummer holds the Chair of Innovation and Technology Management at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at Bielefeld University. He serves as Managing Director of the Research Institute for Technological Innovation, Market Development, and Entrepreneurship (iTIME), Academic Director of the Centre of Entrepreneurship (ZUg), Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Chair of the 'Management' profile at the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM). He is also affiliated with the Center for Uncertainty Studies (CeUS) and the Joint Institute for Individualization in a Changing Environment (JICE).
- Education: MSc in Business Informatics (University of Vienna/TU Vienna, 1993); PhD in Economics (University of Vienna, 1998); Habilitation in Business Administration (University of Vienna, 2003).
Research Interests: Focus on smart products/services, market diffusion of innovations, inter-organizational collaboration, R&D resource allocation, and digital platform growth. His methodologies include agent-based simulation, empirical studies, and mathematical modeling.
Scientific Contributions: Over 120 publications, with recent trends in agent-based market simulation for autonomous vehicles, privacy-security trade-offs in smart devices, and corporate spinoffs. He is co-editor of the Central European Journal of Operations Research and has led special issues on technology management.
