Christian Freudlsperger is an Affiliate Research Fellow at the Jacques Delors Centre and Assistant Professor of Multilevel Politics at ETH Zurich's Center for Comparative and International Studies. He leads the Multilevel Politics (MLP) Research Group and directs the SNSF-funded 'Public Reinsurance in Multilevel Polities (EUROPE RE)' project. His work focuses on European governance structures, sovereignty dynamics, and crisis-driven institutional evolution. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at the Hertie School and ETH Zurich, with visiting research stints at the European University Institute and University of Ottawa.
Education includes degrees from the Hertie School, Sciences Po Paris, and Ludwig Maximilian University. His research examines multilevel governance frameworks, the operationalization of EU agencies, and Germany's evolving stance toward European integration, particularly during crises like the pandemic. He contributes to debates on joint sovereignty mechanisms and institutional resilience through comparative case studies and policy analysis.
