Christian Dustmann is a Professor of Economics at University College London (UCL) and holds additional roles as Honorary Professor at Humboldt University Berlin, Director of the Rockwool Foundation Berlin Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work (RFBerlin), and founding Director of the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM). He has served as President of the Asian and Australasian Society of Labour Economics (AASLE), the European Association of Labour Economists (EALE), and the European Society for Population Economics (ESPE).
He holds a PhD from the European University Institute (1992), an MSc from Bielefeld University (1988), and a Master of Arts from the University of Georgia (1985). His research focuses on migration economics, labour markets, education, crime, and inequality, with particular emphasis on policy-relevant topics such as refugee integration, welfare reforms, and technological impacts on workers.
Dustmann’s awards include the Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Prize (2020) and the Reimar Luest Prize (2023). His work frequently addresses socially critical issues, blending empirical rigor with policy analysis. He advises governments and international organizations, and has held visiting professorships at UC Berkeley, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale.
