Gabriele Lucchetti is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin (RFBerlin) and a Research Associate at the Berlin School of Economics (BSoE). He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham (2024). His research focuses on Labor Economics, Migration Economics, Spatial Economics, and Demographic Change. Key areas include the geography of labor market outcomes for immigrants, economic scarring effects of recessions on migrant assimilation, and policies addressing spatial inequality.
His work has received recognition, including the Peter Sinclair Prize for the 3rd best paper at the MMF PhD Conference. Lucchetti employs quantitative methods and general equilibrium models to analyze migration impacts on urban economies and labor market distortions. His recent publication in Labour Economics (2025) quantifies long-term earnings penalties for migrants entering during recessions, emphasizing occupational shifts as critical drivers of assimilation delays.
