Hyejin Ku

Hyejin Ku is an Associate Professor of Economics at University College London (UCL) and Deputy Director of the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM). She holds a PhD and MA in Economics from Cornell University. Her research focuses on labour economics, applied microeconomics, and science & technology policy, particularly examining incentive schemes, workplace policies, immigration, and China's scientific rise. She is affiliated with CEPR, IZA, and the ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work.

Her research explores how workplace policies and incentive structures affect productivity, career advancement, and inequality. Recent work investigates the global implications of China's scientific progress and the economic impacts of immigration policies. She also studies the role of gender norms in labour supply and the effectiveness of place-based economic interventions.
