Christian Czernohlavek is a researcher at the Institute of Biophysical Chemistry within the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Vienna. Holding a Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl. Ing.) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, he focuses on hybrid biomembrane systems and protein-lattice interactions.
His research centers on membrane biophysics and sustainable biomaterials, specifically investigating lipid/polymer membrane formation on crystalline surface-layer protein lattices. Recent work (2019-2020) analyzes vesicle binding and rupture mechanisms for planar hybrid membrane development, bridging biophysics, materials engineering, and renewable resource applications. This contributes to biomimetic material design with sustainability implications.
Czernohlavek actively participates in Committee 266 of Austrian Standards for sustainable production of renewable energy resources and bio-based products, aligning his research with environmental standardization efforts in bio-based technologies.
