Christian Behrends

Professor Christian Behrends is a faculty member at LMU Munich's Department of Proteomics, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry within the Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy). His research focuses on secretory autophagy, expanding classical autophagy understanding to include non-degradative roles in protein secretion, extracellular vesicle production, and inflammatory cytokine release. This work has implications for microglial function in neurodegenerative diseases through proteomic and imaging approaches.
