Chris Jenks is an Affiliate Research Professor of Law at Southern Methodist University, specializing in military law, national security, and international humanitarian law. He holds advanced degrees including a Ph.D. Candidate status from Melbourne University Law School. Prior to academia, he served over 20 years in the U.S. military as an infantry officer and judge advocate, with roles at the Department of State, Department of Justice, and Pentagon. His research focuses on autonomous weapons systems, counterterrorism law, and accountability norms in armed conflict. He has authored textbooks on criminal law and the law of armed conflict, and published in top-tier law journals including Harvard, Georgetown, and the International Review of the Red Cross.
