Chris Ivory is a Professor and Director of the Innovative Management Practice (IMPACT) Research Centre at Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Business and Law. His expertise spans project management, technology innovation in construction and healthcare, and business school strategy. He has held academic roles at Newcastle University and Manchester University, and has led major research initiatives addressing digital transformation in SMEs, public sector technology adoption, and healthcare innovation.
Education: PhD (Innovation, Manchester University, 2002), MSc (Technical Change, Manchester, 1993), BSc (Communication Studies, Brunel, 1992). Active on editorial boards including Construction Management and Economics.
Research focuses on digital technology's impact on work practices, socio-material entanglement in technology change, and innovation in construction/capital goods industries. Recent grants include £484k for decarbonization research and £1.48M for cross-national digitalization studies with Sweden's Malardalen University. Supervises over a dozen PhD students in technology management and organizational change.
Teaching specialties include innovation management, project management, and MBA/Executive programs. External examiner for Manchester University's Global MBA and Leeds University's undergraduate programs. Key collaborations include the ERDF-funded Eastern New Energy Project and Industry 4.0 initiatives in manufacturing SMEs.
Past projects include examining telehealth innovation in the '2 Seas Region' (rated 4* for impact) and healthcare technology adoption via the InTHO initiative. Lab affiliations include the IMPACT Centre and cross-institutional networks in construction technology and digital governance.
