Associate Professor Chris Durden holds a PhD in Accountancy from Massey University (1999–2004) and has extensive academic experience across institutions including JCU Australia, the University of Waikato, the University of Southern Queensland, and Massey University. He is currently affiliated with the Singapore Business School at James Cook University (Singapore Campus). His teaching focuses on management accounting and financial management at undergraduate, postgraduate, and Executive MBA levels. Prior to academia, he worked in the oil and pharmaceutical industries as a Chartered Accountant (CA), holding both accounting and operational roles.
Dr Durden's research interests center on accounting education, organisational control systems, and performance measurement frameworks. He has published in prestigious journals such as Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Accounting Education: An International Journal, and Journal of Accounting Education.
He maintains dual Australian and New Zealand citizenship and holds professional qualifications including a Chartered Accountant designation from CA ANZ.
