Professor Nigel V. Marsh is a clinical psychologist and academic with appointments at James Cook University Singapore, Norwich Medical School (UK), and the University of Oviedo (Spain). He holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Otago (1985–1988), alongside clinical psychology qualifications from the University of Waikato and Massey University. His primary role is Professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of Professional Programs at JCU Singapore.
Research focuses on psychosocial consequences of trauma/chronic illness, healthy ageing, and caregiver training evaluation. He has conducted studies across lifespan stages, including infants, adults, and older populations. Notable grants include projects on traumatic brain injury, dialysis patients, dementia, and resilience in low-income families. He has supervised 61 postgraduate theses (38 master’s, 23 doctoral).
Teaching includes modules like Clinical Psychology Masters Research Proposal and Biopsychosocial Models of Health. Current projects involve psychosocial care for pediatric oncology patients and mental health initiatives funded by Temasek Foundation.
