Chris Corker is a Lecturer in Management at the University of York's School for Business and Society, specializing in business and economic history. He holds a PhD and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His research focuses on the British armaments industry (1890s–1930s), Sheffield's metalworking heritage, and industrial clusters' development. He collaborates with institutions like Northumbria and Reading Universities on banking, mining, and director networks research.
Chris has taught History and English at Sheffield Hallam University and contributed to employability-focused teaching projects since 2008. He has received prestigious awards including the 2017 Coleman Prize for business history, a 2019 Emerald Literati Award, and a 2020 Vice Chancellor's Teaching Award. He serves as a trustee of the Economic and Business History Society and an editorial board member for the Journal of Management History.
His teaching spans undergraduate Strategic Management and postgraduate strategy modules, alongside contributions to international political economy courses. He actively engages with public heritage initiatives, including roles at Sheffield Archives and the Portland Works Little Sheffield.
