Professor Chris Cook is an Emeritus Professor and Fellow of the University of Wollongong (UOW), affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences and the Department of Electrical Engineering. His career includes leadership roles as Head of School (12 years) and Executive Dean of Engineering (until 2017). His research focuses on industrial automation, robotics, and power engineering, supported by industry and government grants. He has supervised numerous PhD students in these areas.
**Education**: PhD in Electrical Engineering (1976). Prior to academia, he worked in aerospace computing systems at Marconi Avionics and led automation projects at GEC Australia and Automation and Engineering Applications Centre Ltd.
**Research Interests**: Industrial automation, robotics, superconductivity, transport systems, and control systems. His work spans theoretical and applied projects, including superconducting fault current limiters, lithium-ion battery management systems, and intelligent transport systems.
**Funding**: Over 20 grants from ARC, industry partners, and UOW initiatives, including the ARC Research Hub for New Energy Storage Technologies (2021–2026) and projects on dementia-friendly communities (2013–2023).
**Awards**: Fellow of the University of Wollongong.
