Chris Cappiello

Chris Cappiello is a Research Fellow at Queen’s University, affiliated with the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy and the Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute. His research focuses on novel probes of dark matter’s particle nature, particularly exploring alternatives to the standard WIMP paradigm. He investigates light dark matter detection via astrophysical phenomena like supernovae and cosmic rays, as well as heavy dark matter propagation in Earth and astrophysical contexts.

He earned his PhD in 2021 from The Ohio State University under John Beacom, specializing in dark matter phenomenology. His work bridges theoretical modeling and experimental collaboration to constrain light dark matter scenarios and explores composite dark matter states and gravitational structures.
