Dr. Chongxaio (Sean) Chen is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Poultry Science at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on poultry nutrition, gut health, and bone development under stress conditions. He holds a Ph.D. in Poultry Science from the University of Georgia and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from China Agricultural University.
Dr. Chen’s extension duties include supporting poultry producers, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and engaging in youth outreach programs. His research interests span poultry nutrition under stress, feed additives, mycotoxins, backyard flock management, and the application of advanced imaging techniques like micro-CT for bone analysis.
His recent publications emphasize poultry nutrition optimization, bone microstructure analysis, and the role of vitamin D metabolites in avian development. He has pioneered automated bone separation algorithms using micro-CT and explored synergistic effects of essential oils and organic acids in feed safety.
Dr. Chen’s work bridges laboratory research with field applications, addressing practical challenges in poultry production through interdisciplinary approaches. His research has been published in journals like Poultry Science, Frontiers in Physiology, and Animals.
