Dr. Chisato Eda Marling is an Instructor of Arts Leadership at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. She also serves as the Manager of Education and Community Partnerships at the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and teaches at the Eastman Community Music School. Her roles include performer, educator, and leader in music advocacy.
- Education: B.M. in Saxophone Performance (Musashino Academia Musicae, Tokyo), M.M. in Saxophone Performance (University of Minnesota), D.M.A. in Music with minors in Musicians’ Wellness and an Arts Leadership Certificate (Eastman).
Her research interests focus on arts leadership, community engagement in music, and musician wellness. She is a member of the Vertex Saxophone Quartet and performs exclusively on Vandoren products as a Vandoren Performing Artist. She has judged competitions such as the Rochester Philharmonic Young Artist Competition and actively contributes to music education initiatives.
Dr. Marling’s work bridges academic and community settings, emphasizing collaborative partnerships and the role of music in societal development.
