Dr. Ching-Hsuan Wu serves as the Eirik Børve Endowed Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Case Western Reserve University, a position she has held since 2023. Previously, she was the J. Vance and Florence Johnson Endowed Associate Professor and Coordinator of Chinese Studies and Japanese Programs at West Virginia University. She earned her doctoral degree in second language education from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Wu's research centers on Teacher Education, Advanced Language Learning, Pedagogical Technology, and Program Administration. She investigates the integration of Educational Technology in Language and Culture Learning, contributing to the fields of Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition.
Dr. Wu has been awarded multiple competitive grants including a National Security Education Program grant, a Mellon Foundation grant, the Thomas E. Wenzlau Presidential Discretionary grant, and institutional Humanities Pedagogy Innovation grants. Her leadership extends to directing summer study-abroad programs to Taiwan, China, and Korea, as well as federally-funded language camps for K-12 learners. She also serves on national committees for the Boren Fellowship and Fulbright Scholarship.
As Coordinator of Chinese Studies and Japanese Programs at West Virginia University and through her involvement in the U.S. Department of State’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth, Dr. Wu has fostered innovative language learning initiatives and collaborative teams.
