Chiara Gardenghi

Chiara Gardenghi is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at New York University Stern School of Business and will join the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester as a Postdoctoral Associate in July 2025. Her research focuses on industrial organization and health economics, particularly examining healthcare markets, antitrust implications of pricing strategies, and disparities in biomedical innovation financing. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in industrial organization, health economics, and microeconomics at NYU Stern and Bocconi University.

Her work explores how bundled discounts in pharmaceutical markets affect provider decisions and welfare outcomes, evaluates public and private sector roles in funding medical research for diseases affecting marginalized populations, and analyzes physician responses to insurance reimbursement policies. Ongoing projects include studying how cost-plus reimbursement contracts influence pharmaceutical innovation and healthcare market segmentation.

Chiara’s research has been recognized through collaborations with institutions like NIH and employs advanced econometric and machine learning methods. She holds teaching expertise in economics and math for graduate and professional students, reflecting her commitment to bridging academic research and policy impact.
