Cheryl Pooler is a Lecturer at the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work, Baylor University. She holds a DSW from the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine, an MSSW from the University of Louisville, and a BA in Psychology from Lee University. With over 20 years in community mental health, her expertise includes therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation for adults with mental illness, alongside advocacy for homeless families and youth in Waco. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Research and Community Engagement: Her research focuses on homeless youth and families, LGBTQ+ youth homelessness, human trafficking prevention, school social work, and adoption. She co-founded The Cove, a teen nurturing center for homeless youth, and actively participates in community initiatives like the Prosper Waco Committee and the Heart of Texas Human Trafficking Roundtable.
