Cheryl Moyer, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the Medical School (Obstetrics and Gynecology), School of Public Health (Health Management and Policy), and Department of Learning Health Sciences. Her research focuses on social and cultural determinants of maternal and neonatal health outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Ghana, with expertise in respectful maternity care and implementation science.

Dr. Moyer leads maternal and newborn health research projects funded by the Fogarty International Center, NICHD, Gates Foundation, and USAID. Her work emphasizes research capacity development, mentoring over 100 trainees from Ghana, Uganda, and the U.S. She co-developed the Ghana-Michigan IMPACT initiative and contributes to learning health systems in low-resource contexts.
Her recent publications explore neonatal jaundice diagnostics, maternal mental health in low-resource settings, financial barriers to maternal care in Ghana, and numeracy challenges in home blood pressure monitoring. These works span global health, public health policy, and health systems innovation.
Dr. Moyer is a member of the Center for Global Health Equity, Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation, Institute for Research on Women and Gender, and Global REACH. She also participated in a $5 million federal grant program for training Learning Health System Scientists.
