Cheryl Barden serves as a Fixed-term Lecturer in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at Central Michigan University, teaching American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture courses for 13 years with 27 years of continuous engagement in the Deaf community.

Professional Expertise: Extensive interpretation experience across medical, legal, business, religious, community, and educational settings including specialized Deaf-blind intervener services. She has taught community and professional sign language classes for 23 of the last 25 years using the 'Signing Naturally' curriculum.
Instructional Focus: Courses span ASL levels I-V, Introduction to the Deaf Community, Sociocultural History of the American Deaf Community, and international study programs in France and Jamaica examining Deaf culture and ASL applications in elementary education.
